After a busy weekend and many homework assignments, it's time to enjoy this rainy day!I spent all day yesterday writing a paper about Hans Wegner, a Danish designer who created over 400 chairs (you would probably recognize some of them). It's amazing how much work goes into a chair.
We planted tons of flowers in one of the front yard beds but I should have foreseen this disaster...the rain washed away the soil and probably the seeds in the middle :( Hopefully something will grow anyways.
At least there are sunflowers coming up in the other bed..seeds that fell from last summer, I didn't replant them.
And I know for sure this barrel cactus, the only plant that came with this house, will not die, even with me taking care of it!
I'm trying to keep these herbs alive but things are not looking good.
Nathan put up a metal rabbit fence this weekend so that Abby can't get through our homemade fence anymore. Mainly so that we could install a hose for the garden so she wouldn't chew it to pieces.
He also had to install a water line back here just for the hose. This is turning out to be a lot of work, but I know it will be worth it.
As you can see, we still have lots of weeding, tilling, and planting to do! (and we should also throw away that ugly satellite that the previous owners left on our roof...)
We can't leave anything out in the yard or it will look like this in ten minutes.
i can´t get over how all your pictures are so pretty!! seriously, even the picture of the chewed up plastic pot looks nice!! did all your pictures look this great before or is it the new camera? i gave myself a good laught because i saw the garden picture and was like, wow, how pretty! look at those plants! then i read they're weeds! haha
ReplyDeleteyou should swing by my mom's house sometime! she could share some gardening tips (and frustrations of plants dying) with you. she has been doing it for at least the past 6 years and did when i was younger and before i came along too so i imagine might have some good tips (or funny stories like how Gus at her snow peas!).
did you just put white candels in a jar? is it a canning jar? it looks really simple and pretty. good job on your paper! you should send it to me (if you don't mind). i'd like learning how much work goes into a chair. after taking a class with industrial designers i've come to understand better how important good design is (and how stressful thing can become just because of a lack of it- example, nearly everywhere in caracas!)
